Jung Yong Hwa's fans got excited a few months ago when the CNBlue lead singer was considering a role in "The Heirs" with two-time co-star Park Shin Hye and popular leading man Lee Min Ho.
He was asked to play Lee Min Ho's "perfect" older brother and a possible third wheel in a love triangle with Park Shin Hye.
Jung Yong Hwa has not appeared in a drama since "Heartstrings" two years ago when Park Shin Hye played his love interest. When he played Kang Shin Woo in his first comedy "You're Beautiful," his character also liked Park Shin Hye but he lost her to the character played by Jang Geun Suk. Fans were excited about yet another onscreen love match between the two stars.
But after a few weeks of speculation Jung Yong Hwa decided against the role and chose to focus on his band's upcoming concert schedule.
Well, it's time to cue the excitement again. The talented singer, guitarist and actor is now thinking about another role. And even though Park Shin Hye will not be in this drama, his fans are happy to see him return to kdrama-land.
This time Jung Yong Hwa is reading the script for a new KBS drama that is temporarily titled "Future's Choice." His management agency FNC Entertainment confirmed that he is indeed considering the role.
"It is not yet final," said a representative from the agency. "But it is under positive review."
According to a KBS representative things are shaping up.
"No formal agreement has been signed yet with Jung Yong Hwa but we are looking at finalizing contracts to begin shooting next month," said the KBS representative.
That sounds pretty definite but then so did his joining the cast of "The Heirs." After he withdrew from that production he was replaced by actor Cho Jin Hyuk, who played Lee Seung Gi's monster daddy in "Gu Family Book."
The plot for "Future's Choice" focuses on the people who work in broadcast television, especially a writer who meets and gets advice from her past self. It has not yet been revealed whether this will involve her remembering the past or actual time travel. Either way it sounds interesting. Jung Yong Hwa has been asked to play a director at the station. There is no word yet on which actress will play the writer and most likely Jung Yong Hwa's love interest.
Kwong Hye Hong is directing the story. Hong Jin Ah, the writer of "Beethoven Virus" and "The King 2 Hearts" will write the story.
"Future's Choice" will air in October, following "Good Doctor," which stars Joo Won and Moon Chae Won.
