Maria Sharapova came out of the split from ex-boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov a much better woman.
In an article from Huffington Post, the no. 3 women's tennis player in the world dropped some nuggets of wisdom on how to be a stronger woman.
She said that one of the more important things is to find a role model that women can emulate from.
"Many of the great athletes who came before me, like Billie Jean King and Martina Navratilova, were literal game changers," Maria Sharapova said. "They changed the way women's tennis was perceived and were warriors on the court -- proving that women were to be respected in my sport in the same way as male players."
And being a woman in a male dominated sport can either be a curse or blessing, depending on how one reacts.
"Just like in any field, women have to endure and ultimately overcome challenges or misperceptions," she added. "Women are continuously judged for outward appearance by the media and the public -- so projecting confidence in your own personal power and strength is paramount to redirecting that focus."
Grigor Dimitrov has confirmed the split with Maria Sharapova during a press conference on July 24, according to Us Weekly.
"Our paths split," he said. "We experienced wonderful moments together. I wish her much happiness and success in life and in tennis."
Maria Sharapova's ex-boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov continued, "Now I'm concentrated entirely on the game and I'm sure the results will soon be seen. This is the summer of the new beginning of me."
But the split only became a motivation for Maria Sharapova to be one of the best players in the tennis court, but also one of the bigger names in the field of athlete-endorsers.
According to Forbes, she earned $29.5 million in 2015 but only $6.7 of that figure comes from tennis, the rest are endorsements.
"The Roland Garros title kicked in valuable bonuses from sponsors Nike and Head," the article said. "Other major endorsement partners include Avon Products (new in 2014), Samsung, Tag Heuer and Evian. Sharapova launched her own candy line, Sugarpova, in 2012. Sales doubled in the past year to more than three million bags of candy."
