Former "The Vampire Diaries" star Nina Dobrev and "Twilight" actress Nikki Reed almost had a run-in at the Elle Women in Hollywood Awards on Monday, Oct. 19. That would have been an awkward encounter for Ian Somerhalder's ex-girlfriend and his wife, if all the reports surrounding the alleged love triangle were true.

"Nina Dobrev and Nikki Reed both looked absolutely stunning at the Elle Women In Hollywood Awards in Los Angeles on Monday evening, Oct. 19," said Hollywood Life.

"But we couldn't help thinking how awkward their near run-in must have been, considering they've both had sexual relations with the same man - hunky Vampire Diaries actor Ian Somehalder. One's his ex, and one's his wife. That's a recipe for disaster," it said.

It's been reported many times that Nina Dobrev and Nikki Reed were former friends but later had a falling out when the latter became the girlfriend of Ian Somerhalder, right after he broke up with the former "The Vampire Diaries" star.

In fact, the two were allegedly the reason why Nina Dobrev had to leave "The Vampire Diaries" because she could no longer deal with the awkwardness.

But Nina Dobrev insisted that there's no awkwardness between her and Ian Somerhalder as well as his wife, Nikki Reed.

In an interview with E! News, she said the split with Ian Somerhalder wasn't due to Nikki Reed or a third party.

"I've said this before, that we didn't break up because anything bad happened or because there wasn't love or friendship," she said. "I love him and the friendship is still strong and I think he's great and I care about him. And that didn't change. Yes, we're professional and that's fine. We were friends long before we dated and we still are now."

Nina Dobrev even praised the "beautiful" wedding between Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder.

"They look happy and I am happy and so I don't see why there should be a problem with that. The drama is in the media, it's not with us," she added.
