Ronda Rousey has been lobbying to get the "Captain Marvel" role, but according to the latest casting rumors, the UFC champ is not even being considered for the role of Carol Danvers.
Reportedly, fans think that "Edge of Tomorrow" actress Emily Blunt and "Game of Thrones" actress Natalie Dormer are perfect to play the said role.
But Marvel president Kevin Fiege said that although the script for Captain Marvel" is ongoing, there won't be any announcements this year despite the movie casting rumors.
"I think right now we're scripting the film, figuring out who we want Carol Danvers to be, and really what the structure of the movie will be and what her part will be in some of our other Phase 3 films," he told MTV. "And it would be next year that we start to really think about casting."
But there's hope yet for Ronda Rousey as Kevin Feige and producer Jeremy Latcham appear to be reading the fan reactions online regarding who will be cast as Carol Danvers in "Captain Marvel."
"We read it, we go through it, we read the comments, we look at who people like," Jeremy Latcham said. "Sometimes it's really enlightening. Sometimes it's the exact same person that they've been saying over and over again that we don't think is right. It's always fun to kinda go through it and see what people are up to."
Fans have been giving their two cents on who should play Carol Danvers.
If Ronda Rousey had her way, however, there's no other woman that can do justice to the role than her. The UFC champ is will play opposite Mark Wahlberg in "Mile 22."
"I'm really looking forward to doing my first starring role opposite Mark Wahlberg," she told IGN. "Hopefully by the time Captain Marvel comes around, I will have enough skills and experience in the field for them to seriously consider me."
