'Descendants of the Sun," starring Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, finally has an air date. The Wednesday-Thursday drama will air in February 2016 following the end of "The Merchant: Gaek Ju 2015."

The drama's schedule was hard to determine as it is one of the rare k-dramas that will complete all of its filming before the air date. One of the reasons for shooting it in advance is that 80 percent of the filming is being done in other countries. Much of the drama was shot on location in Greece. Members of the cast lived in Greece for about a month to film their scenes.

One of the filming locations was Zakynthos, an island in the Ionian Sea that is known for its beautiful cliffs, caves and beaches. The locations promise some stunning backdrops to what has been described as an intense love story.

In "Descendants of the Sun" Song Joong Ki plays Yoo Shi Jin, a leader of a Special Warfare Command unit in a fictional Eastrn European country. While executing his duty he meets Kang Mo Yeon, played by Song Hye Kyo. She's a doctor with a humanitarian charity Doctors Without Borders. With different priorities these two characters will clash before they fall in love.

The role will be Song Joong Ki's comeback role. His last drama role was "Nice Guy" in 2012. His last film role before enlisting for his two-year mandatory military duty was "A Werewolf Boy" filmed that same year.

Song Hye Kyo has not appeared in a k-drama since 2013, when she starred in "That Winter The Wind Blows" with Jo In Sung. She did appear in four films during those two years. She appeared in the k-movie "My Brilliant Life," the Chinese film "The Queens," and the two-part Chinese film "The Crossing: Part 1" and "The Crossing: Part 2."

The drama also stars Jin Goo, last seen in "Falling For Innocence" and Kim Ji Won who appeared in "Gap Dong" and "Hidden Identity."

SHINee's Onew plays Lee Chi Hoon, a doctor and member of Song Hye Kyo's team.

Are you happy this drama finally has a time slot?
