The people behind the daring escape of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, who continues to elude arrest, have been booked and detained, the Mexican authorities claimed in the latest news reports.
According to the CNN news report, El Chapo's brother-in-law was among those arrested for his escape.
Also arrested were the "main operator and organizer of the escape," the "long-time pilot for the Sinaloa cartel," the man who bought the property where the tunnel was dug into El Chapo's prison cell, the individual who supervised the construction of the tunnel, and "the person who allegedly handled the transfer of the property where the tunnel was built."
Their names were withheld while investigation is ongoing, however.
"We will keep working together until we achieve his recapture," Attorney General Arely Gomez said in the news report. "Guzman managed to escape from prison, but neither he nor those who helped him will escape from justice."
In another news update, Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman remains elusive even as the Marines were called in to help in the search.
"Special forces and hundreds of troops allegedly had him surrounded but despite a leg injury, but he manage to evade them all on foot, frustrating federal forces and prompting them to search various homes in Culiacan, the capital of Sinaloa," Telesurf TV reported.
"One of the four houses searched is supposedly owned by Emma Coronel, El Chapo's current wife, who was with the drug kingpin in February 2014 when he was arrested a second time," it added.
Previous news reports alleged that Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman's son might have tipped off authorities that the drug kingpin might be hiding in Costa Rica.
Last month, El Chapo's son posted a photo inside a posh restaurant which showed a man sporting a mustache that bears striking resemblance to the drug kingpin.
"The location tag in the photo is Costa Rica," said Fox News. "That could mean the Central American country or the town in Mexico's Sinaloa state where 'El Chapo' is based. Or it may be nothing beyond a ruse to throw off authorities."
