"Indiana Jones 5" latest news announced that there will be no re-cast for the role of lead star Indy. Casting rumors were addressed by the movie's producer in an interview with Total Film, which was published by Den Of Geek.
According to longtime "Indiana Jones" producer Frank Marshall, the hit adventure movie's return will not include a revival of Harrison Ford's lead character of Indy.
"[We are] not doing the Bond thing where we're going to call somebody else Indiana Jones... we have to figure this out," he said. "[We are] not willing to call somebody else 'Indiana Jones.'"
"Indiana Jones 5" latest news reports have also claimed that actors Chris Pratt and Shia LaBeouf are being considered for the film's new lead character.
However, Frank Marshall revealed that the production team has yet to decide who the movie's star will be.
"There are a lot of rumours," he admitted. "We haven't even sat down to talk about Indy yet."
"At some point we'll sit down. There's a bunch of people who could probably take the baton," Frank Marshall added.
According to a report from Telegraph UK, director Steven Spielberg previously addressed "Indiana Jones 5" latest news, particularly its casting.
The renowned filmmaker specifically talked about how veteran actors Tom Hanks and original lead star Harrison Ford are being considered for the lead role.
"We've gotta figure this out because now Tom is tied with Harrison Ford," Steven Spielberg said.
"Harrison and I did four movies, Tom and I have done four movies. Now I'll probably do an Indy Five with Harrison. It'll be five for Harrison, four for Tom... [Then] I've got to make another one with Tom, so that will be five for Tom, five for Harrison."
"I think I'm going to leapfrog that way for the rest of my career. With Daniel Day-Lewis in everything else!" he joked.
According to a report from New York Daily News, Steven Spielberg previously addressed "Indiana Jones 5" latest news and admitted that he wanted Harrison Ford to reprise the role.
"If there is an 'Indy V,' Harrison has to be the age that he is when we make the picture," he said. "He's going to have to play that age, and we'll write that into the script."
