Microsoft Corporation has been highlighting the performance of the Surface Book. Some of the tech enthusiasts welcomed the new laptop with zest, but later, the device divided opinions. Its high price made some people hesitant, with looks that are not appealing to everyone.
Wired traced the conception of the Surface Book as Microsoft Corporation's "next big thing." Microsoft Corporate VP Panos Panoy, who takes care of all things devices in Redmond, developed the concept of making a laptop. Surface is the company's attempt to take back the PC market that once belonged to Microsoft, but now taken by Apple's MacBook.
He formed a team with a goal to reinvent the laptop and spent two years "designing, prototyping and fine-tuning" to come up with what is now seen as the Surface Book. However, it seems that the two years were not enough.
There are lots of reported problems with Microsoft Corporation's Surface Book, said Beta News - firmware update, flickering screen, charging issues after keyboard reattachment, poor battery life, trackpad issues or freezing due to the video driver.
Though there were some disappointments, Microsoft picked the positive reviews. For instance, Athima Chansanchai quoted reviewers who gave both the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book a thumbs up and a head-over-heels "They like both. A lot."
As for the Surface Pro 4, Rod Tent noted that despite being the latest addition to the Surface Pro lineup, it feels like a first generation device.
Early Microsoft Corporation Surface Book adopters have been sent updates this month for fixes. According to its official blog, the company released fixes for the camera driver set to enable Windows Hello, and updated the drivers of the control logic driver, CS12 Controller, imaging signal processor 2500, Microsoft Camera front and rear, IR camera front driver, Surface Camera Windows Hello and AVStream Camera 2500.
The Redmond-based company also updated the drivers of Surface Display Calibration, Integration and StorageFirmware Update to improve the display's overall stability as well as storage performance.
