The air date for "Game of Thrones" season 6 is reportedly being pushed back at least until May, which triggered speculations that it was deliberate in time for the "Winds of Winter" release date.

Apparently, HBO has announced that the schedule of "Vinyl," by famed director Martin Scorsese, will be on Valentine's Day while "Togetherness" and "Girls" will be returning a week later. If they are going to run for 10 episodes, that means "Vinyl" won't end until April 17, while the two series would conclude on April 24.

It's been widely reported that "Game of Thrones" season 6 will cover events that are not yet tackled by George R. R. Martin in his "A Song of Fire and Ice" novels.

"And no one knows when the next book in the series, The Winds of Winter, will be released," said HuffPost. "But many fans believe -- based on a few scraps of news -- that Martin is racing to finish this book in time to release it before the next season, in order to keep the show from spoiling the book."

Did HBO and George R. R. Martin agree to delay the "Game of Thrones" premiere in time for the "Winds of Winter" release date?

Huffpost said that that scenario is "not inconceivable."

"That sounds a little convoluted, admittedly, but we are talking about the people behind Littlefinger and Varys. Convoluted secret plots are their lives," it added.

George R. R. Martin himself had hoped to announce the "Winds of Winter" release date before the April airing of "Game of Thrones" season 6.

Alejo Cuervo, the editor of Ediciones Gigamesh (the Spanish publisher of George R. R. Martin), told Lossie Tereinos, per IBTimes, also hinted that the release date for "Winds of Winter" would be early 2016.

"The difference between the release dates of the Spanish version and the English version are not expected to be much, as the manuscript will be made available to the Spanish publishers well before the book is out in the market," the article said.
