TV Series 'Quantico' Producer Mark Gordon Faces Lawsuit For Copyright Violation Of 1999 CNN Documentary About FBI Agents

Mark Gordon, producer of the TV series "Quantico" is facing a lawsuit for copyright violations, according to published reports.

The concept for the TV show was allegedly lifted from a documentary aired in 1999 on CNN. The show ran into trouble when filmmakers Jamie Hellman, Barbara Hellman and business executive Paula Paizes filed a 35-Page complaint on Thursday.

"The detailed knowledge of training techniques, lifestyle and terminology used in "Quantico" could only have derived from the transcripts and notes obtained by Leibovitz and Hellman during their unprecedented access to FBI recruits for the documentary, copies of which were retained by [Gordon]."

The filmmakers and Mark Gordon producer of "Quantico" had entered into an agreement to sell the documentary, which would be made into a movie. The filmmakers had also submitted other notes and transcripts related to the documentary. However, after having learnt that the popular TV series have been made on the same lines and revolves around the same plot, the filmmakers decided to sue the producer.

The TV series 'Quantico: The making of an FBI agent' is a special 16-week program that is designed for FBI trainees. The past lives of FBI trainees have also been depicted on the show.

The show has found success, and has managed to find a better than average viewership. The show has a rating of 7.5 on IMDb.
