Leonardo DiCaprio made a quiet visit to one of the Seven Wonders of the World recently: theTaj Mahal in Agra, India, Saturday morning, according to published reports.
The "Inception"-star donned a simple grey T-shirt and a golf cap to keep the crowd away, but it was actually his beard that made difficulty for people in recognizing him.
The three-time Academy Award nominee is in India to shoot for a documentary film on climate change.
The Indian Express reported Leonardo showed interest in the fascinating history of the white marble mausoleum, Taj Mahal. Leonardo spent around two and a half hours at the Taj adoring the beauty of the place, took a walk in the garden and also was curious to know about its culture by hiring a Indian guide.
According to The Hindustan Times, Leonardo was also accompanied by his mother, some family members and a still photographer.
"He admired the monument to the fullest and fell in love with its story. He wanted to explore the whole vicinity of the monument before it started getting crowded, so he could capture the Taj on film. His visit to the monument was kept a low-key affair.
"I have been in touch with the filmmakers for the past year about their plans to make a film on climate change. They wanted me to particularly talk about our concerns about the need for ambition and equity in climate negotiations", Sunita Narain said in a interview with Onnews.in.
Sunita Narain is the Director of the Centre for Science and Environment, and publisher of the magazine Down to Earth. The documentary will reportedly reflect the harmful effects of Global warming.
In an IANS' image, Leonardo can be seen taking a selfie with the Taj Mahal in the background. The "Wolf of Wall Street" star is the UN Messenger of Peace with a special focus on climate change. He has already worked on a documentary named "The 11th hour" and this documentary about climate change will be his second on the theme.
