BlackBerry Priv Available For Preorder In B&H Photo Video Store; Unboxing The Handset

BlackBerry Priv has been accepting preorders for the US, Canada and UK consumers via ShopBlackBerry, and retailer B&H Photo Video electronic store joined the bandwagon as well. Its site shows that the first Android-powered Blackberry phone's preorders has started and it will be available on November 20, reported CrackBerry.

The retailer maintains the same pricing, $699 for the factory unlocked model. It processes orders and provides options whether the device should be shipped to the customer or the latter will pick it up at the New York City superstore if he is just in the area.

Though it is difficult to believe that a phone that inherits the BlackBerry security and privacy trademarks while adapting the rich Google's Android ecosystem, it really exists and finally arrived.

Originally dubbed Venice, the BlackBerry Priv which is accepting preorders is set to ship on November 6 for U.S. customers. Carphone Warehouse, a retailer in UK has already received a release unit and even unboxed it.

The unboxing began with a look at the box, then pointing at the packaging's words, "Privacy" and "Privilege." Inside the box is the phone itself, the SIM ejector tool, USB cable, manuals and headphones.

The unboxing demoed some features of the phone. The go-to for all notifications, the BlackBerry Hub stays and can be activated by holding the Home button down and swiping to the right.

The virtual keyboard lets the user "flick" word predictions into the text field by a key's swipe, while the physical keyboard is a traditional one and similar to that of BlackBerry Passport, with a track pad for navigation.

The BlackBerry Calendar also made an appearance, and so did BlackBerry Search. Then there was DTEK, a unique app which puts proper priority on privacy and allows users to fine-tune Priv's security.

The Priv can be BlackBerry's swan song to the hardware sphere, said Android Authority.
