Jake Ballard, Scott Foley's character in "Scandal," surprised a lot of fans when he revealed that he has a wife.

A few weeks ago, it was discovered that Jake Ballard was, or by the looks of it, still married to a spy named Elise, played by Mia Maestro.

"In the world of spies, there's also something else going on and even if it turns out she isn't evil and has nothing to do with Lazarus 1, I suspect Elise has something up her sleeve when it comes to Jake's future," John Kubicek of Buddy TV wrote about the "Scandal" twist.

Evil or not, it seems that Elise will be sticking around, especially since Shondaland got Mia Maestro for a recurring role.

Jake Ballard having a wife is something interesting not only for fans, but also for the actor playing the role of the former B-613 command.

"...There's something interesting happening with Jake and his wife, how strange!" Scott Foley told Variety.

"I didn't know [about her], I had no idea! And I found out that 'Jake's' not his real name, which is sort of interesting! So I think there's more to come on that front," Scott Foley said about his character in "Scandal."

Jake Ballard's plight only seems to be a subplot so far in this season of "Scandal." But with the way things are being laid out, is it possible that a much bigger complication could brew for Scott Foley's character later down the line?

With Elise in the picture, many Olake (Olivia and Jake) fans are asking - is it really over between Jake Ballard and Olivia Pope, played by Kerry Washington?

"I hope not! It seems like it's over right now; I don't know what I'd do if it were over forever!" Scott Foley said.

Does that mean that Olivia and Jake will be getting back together again sometime soon?

"You never know, the show has done such a great job of playing out that love triangle, and it seems like she's with Fitz now, and they seem happy, and I'm excited to see what happens with them," Scott Foley said.
