After achieving the mark of billion users having logged on to Facebook on a single day in August, it managed to make it a habit. According to the data compiled by the Bloomberg, more than 1 billion users log into their Facebook accounts every day. The intra-day trading reached its highest since May 2012. The current market valuation of Facebook is said to be $305 billion.

Facebook is the world's largest social networking platform. Facebook also happens to have three major applications to its kitty, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger. Instagram is a major photo sharing app, while WhatsApp is a cross-platform messaging application.

WhatsApp has a base of more than 900 million users and is the most popular messaging application. WhatsApp was acquired by Facebook in 2014, which was the largest acquisition for the social networking giant.

According to Bloomberg, the stock rose 4.8% on Thursday. These figures indicate that all is more than well for Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook is the eight-wealthiest person on the planet, having a net worth of $47.8 billion.

Facebook has heavily banked on mobile advertising and also introduced video based advertising on its Instagram application recently. Facebook is trying to rope in many advertisers as it occupies much of the mobile app market. It is able to track user habits better and target ads accordingly. A major chunk of revenue is driven by mobile users.

Facebook is not only used to connect to friends, but also to watch videos and get news-updates. Facebook is also planning to launch a news-based app called as 'Notify'. Facebook is blocked in China and Mark plans to enter one of the largest user-market eventually.

Facebook had gone public in 2012. In terms of revenue, the company is said to make more revenue from America and Canada, than any other country.

Facebook was launched in 2004, just for Harvard college students. The huge success story made Facebook include some other institutions. Since 2006, Facebook allowed users from all over to be a part of the largest social networking platform and the rest is history.
