The sequel to "Terminator Genisys" appears to be still on despite the rather disappointing showing in the domestic box-office, which was unfairly blamed on "Game of Thrones" star Emilia Clarke.
This was confirmed by Dana Goldberg, Skydance chief creative officer, who told TheWrap during the 6th Annual Media Leadership Conference.
"I wouldn't say on hold, so much as re-adjusting," she said. "We're ultimately happy with overall worldwide numbers. Do I wish we would have done better domestically? Absolutely."
"Happily, we live in the world where the domestic number had a level of importance 10 or 15 years ago - I'm not saying it's not important, it is - but we have to play to a worldwide market."
She also revealed that they won't go into production until the start of next year.
However, Dana Goldberg was mum on the possibility that Emilia Clarke would reprise her role as Sarah Connor in the "Terminator Genisys" sequel.
Dish Nation alleged that the English actress "failed to impress" the executives with her turn in "Terminator Genysis."
"Sadly her acting ability has been called into question and has in part been blamed for the film's flop," the alleged source claimed. "Of course it's not all her fault but they basically don't want her back. They're saying she doesn't have the star power they thought she did."
The "Terminator Genisys" sequel was originally slated for a May 2017 release although that could be pushed back because of the readjustment.
Emilia Clarke had said that she's always wanted to play Sarah Connor so when the role was offered to her in "Terminator Genisys," she didn't hesitate.
"It was a double-edged sword for me because one of the reasons I wanted to take the role is that I grew up being inspired by Linda's brilliant Sarah Connor, so as an actress I jumped at the chance," she said. "It was only later that the pressure of what I'd taken on dawned on me."
