Pixar just dropped the trailer for "Finding Dory," the "Finding Nemo" spinoff headlined by Ellen DeGeneres.
And the comedian gave her fans a treat when she debuted the "Finding Dory" trailer on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" last Tuesday
In the clip, Dory can be seen having a dream about her mother being in distress. Nemo hears her and when he goes to check up on her, she's already gone. Nemo and Marlin find her and bring her back, but she goes missing again.
Ellen DeGeneres has made no effort to hide her interest to reprise her role as Dory in any capacity, whether it's going to be a sequel to the 2003 hit "Finding Nemo," or a spinoff.
In announcing "Finding Dory," Disney creative chief officer John Lasseter showed a video montage of Ellen DeGeneres pleading for a sequel, according to People.
For her part, she said that playing Dory "means a lot to her.
"It is a really sweet character," she said. "And she's flawed, and I think that it's important for kids to grow up and see flawed characters that are lovable and that really, no matter if they make mistake after mistake, they have a little surrounding pack, like a friendship with all these other fish that they travel with that forgive her. And even though they're frustrated with her, they love her."
The lesson for "Finding Dory," as can be shown in the trailer, is about finding a family that loves you even if they are not your own.
"She's been lost for a long time, and she's just tried to act like everything's fine," Ellen DeGeneres explained of the theme behind "Finding Dory."
The talk show host added, "And in this film, you see that it's kind of like she's taken a little bit of a - she's paid a toll on it. She misses the fact that she has a family, and she realizes she has a family. And where are they? Did her parents give her away? Where is her family?"
