Ariel Winter lashed back at the body shamers in an Instagram post after her recent social media post, where the "Modern Family" star was dressed in a bikini, generated a lot of negative comments.
The long rant came with a photograph with a girl's bare legs showing how society brands somebody based on the length of the skirt.
"Modern Family" star Ariel Winter wrote, addressing the body shamers, "Who knew that an innocent photo with my nieces would turn into this? The height of a girl's skirt or whatever she is wearing for that matter, does not imply what she is asking for. It sickens me to think at 17 years old, a photo of myself with my nieces is suggesting that I'm 'asking for it.'"
"I typically never give power to the mean things people bravely say behind their computer screens on the Internet, but this is for the girls who are constantly bullied whether it be online or at school," she added. "You are not asking for anything because of what you are wearing- you are expressing yourself and don't you ever think you deserve the negativity as the consequence to what you are wearing- YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. Celebrate you and don't let anyone's comments allow you to think less of yourself. Us girls have to stick together!!!!!!"
Ariel Winters was referring to the photograph she posted on Instagram showing her wearing a bikini while posing with her nephew and niece.
One fan gave support to "Modern Family" star Ariel Winters against the body shamers, writing, "She has the bust size that I and many other girls have that tells us if we even show the slightest bit of it, that we're 'asking for it'. Or showing a little bit of leg just above the knee. NEVER EVER IN LIFE IS ANY GIRL EVER ASKING FOR IT. No matter what we wear."
