Emma Stone is allegedly wrapped to play the lead role in a comedy drama "Love May Fail" which is an adaptation of the novel written by Matthew Quick.

Stone is set to play the lead lady in the drama which is an adaptation of Mathew Quick's novel that features a woman returning to her hometown after a divorce from her husband in search of her retired English teacher. Quick, the author of the novel "Love May Fail" is well known for his amazing work "Silver Linings Playbook," according to Guardian.

The movie version of the "Silver Linings Playbook" fetched the prestigious Oscar award to Jennifer Lawrence in the best actress category. "The Good Girl" and "School of Rock" writer Mike White is reportedly writing the script for Stone's new drama series.

The drama will be produced by Matt Tolmach and Elizabeth Cantillon while the director of the series is yet to be revealed. Cantillon is known for his association with "Galaxy Quest" and Will Smith's new NFL drama "Concussion" and Tolmach for "The Amazing Spider-Man" and upcoming "Jumanji" remake.

As for the plot of the drama, the leading lady who is cheated on by her husband returns to her hometown following a divorce. The woman sets out on a search for her favorite English teacher who lost his career after a scandal. She also puts in her earnest efforts to clear his name off the scandal.

Emma Stone Rejected "Ghostbusters" Reboot

Stone who starred in "Irrational Man" and "Aloha" was nominated for Oscar for her role in "Birdman." The 27-year-old actress who rejected "Ghostbusters'" lead role said that a franchise was a pretty big commitment, reported Xpose.

''The script was really funny. It just didn't feel like the right time for me," noted Stone. ''A franchise is a big commitment - it's a whole thing. I think maybe I need a minute before I dive back into that water,'' she added.
