Ciara was defended by Russell Wilson as the Seattle Seahawks star slammed "Blame Ciara" jokes.

According to a report from Seattle PI, the NFL quarterback has been criticized for allegedly losing his focus on football ever since he began dating the R&B diva. Football fanatics specifically called out Seattle Seahawks' loss to the Arizona Cardinals last weekend, where Russell Wilson played what fans said was his worst game of the season.

With the popularity of "Blame Ciara" jokes on social media, Russell Wilson said the "I Bet" singer has nothing to do with his team's misfortunes. He also assured fans of how he still prioritizes his sport.

"No, I don't think so at all," Russell Wilson said about his high-profile relationship being distraction.

"People want to make it into something else, but for me I love the game of football. I love coming to work. I love getting here early and leaving late. That's what it's about."

"Nothing's changed. We just need to find ways to win," he added.

According to a recent report from Rolling Stone, Ciara herself snubbed Russell Wilson's fans who have been blaming her for her beau's losses.

"You know what? It comes with territory," Ciara said. "When people say those types of comments, you know, that's silly. It's clearly silly."

"I choose to focus on the positive and focus on the cool things that are truly happening. That's how I live my life, and I have to say life is good. Clearly those things don't make any sense," she explained.

According to a report from The News Tribune, Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said he has spoken to his star player about Ciara possibly distracting Russell Wilson.

"We do talk a lot, about what's going on, what's coming," he said.

"He has tremendous responsibility and he handles it beautifully. I don't want him to be too far away from all of the things that we communicate on that keeps us close to football."

"He doesn't let that happen. I'm on top of that," Pete Carroll added.
