Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews came to the defense of Olivia Munn and boyfriend Aaron Rodgers amid reports of his struggles on the field.
"When the media suggests there are problems at home or that problems are derived from someone's personal life or who they are dating, I think the media is out of line in that regard," he told E! News.
According to ESPN piece from staff writer Rob Demosky, Olivia Munn and boyfriend Aaron Rodgers could be having relationship issues, which would explain his struggles on the field.
"A longtime NFL agent told me recently that when he sees one of his top-performing clients play differently, as Rodgers has of late, the first thing he wonders is if something is going on in his personal life," he wrote.
"There's no indication that Rodgers' relationship status has changed. Lions reporters said they spotted Rodgers' girlfriend, actress Olivia Munn, at Lambeau Field on Sunday," he added. "Sometimes it's easy to forget that professional athletes have lives away from the field, and you never know what could be going on in their personal lives."
But Olivia Munn quickly responded on Twitter as she took offense that she was the cause of boyfriend Aaron Rodgers' struggles.
"Playing it fast & loose w/the journalism @RobDemovsky. Your professional skills are lacking... you must be having personal problems at home," she wrote.
One fan commented, "Internet trolls live for this shit. Don't feed them! You and Aaron are awesome."
But the "X-Men: Apocalypse" star did not stop there as she wrote, "The trolls can have their comments, it's not them I'm calling out, it's the journalists. Thanks for the love though."
Clay Matthews was all support for Olivia Munn in calling out the reporter on the article about her boyfriend, Aaron Rodgers.
"I thought she had a good follow-up tweet response to that reporter. It was good to see," the linebacker said. "Your job as a reporter is to report on the team, so to make suggestions like that, even if there is no malice behind it, I believe is wrong."
