British singer Adele's new album "25" has sold a whopping 2.3 million in sales in the U.S. in just first three days of its release, Nielsen Music said on Monday.
"25" was released on Nov. 20 and is Adele's third studio album. As far as industry forecast goes, the album is expected to finish the week with 2.9 million in sales.
As reported by BillBoard, Adele's "25" album release is the second album to sell more than 2 million copies in a single week since SoundScan began tracking album sales in 1991 and it's on track to beat the record. The single-week sales record is currently held by N Sync's "No Strings Attached" which sold around 2.4 million copies in the week it came out in 2000.
"25" sold at least 900,000 downloads on iTunes alone, according to Billboard, and the album is No. 1 on Apple's iTunes chart in 110 countries, reported Variety.
As for 25's UK sales, the album is on track to become the fastest-selling album ever. Over three days, "25" has sold over 538,000 copies in the UK.
The album has been driven by the success of its lead single, 'Hello,' which debuted last month and has sold more than 2.5 million digital copies. The song topped Billboard's Digital Songs chart for four consecutive weeks.
Adele's independent record label, XL Recordings, had previously announced that the album would not be available on Apple Music, Spotify or other major streaming services.
Adele's last album "21," which was released in January 2011, sold 208,000 copies in its first week and crossed the 500,000 sales milestone by the fourth week. The album won six Grammys and sold more than 30 million copies worldwide.
The first full week sales data will be released by Nielsen on November 30.
