It was unfortunate both that actress Moon Geun Young injured her eye on the set of "Goddess of Fire: Jeonji" and that because of her injury the drama did not broadcast for a week. Because the missing two episodes gave viewers a chance to discover the new SBS drama "Suspicious Housekeeper."
The quirky drama, about a housekeeper whose only flaw is that she will do whatever you ask, is a fun watch. It's a remake of a hit Japanese drama and the plot keeps viewers guessing. Is the housekeeper suspicious because she is a human who is traumatized? Is she a robot? Is she magic? Or is the family merely imagining things?
The drama stars a few accomplished actors, including Choi Ji Woo as the competent but slightly off housekeeper Park Bok Nyeo. Lee Sung Jae plaus the grieving widower, Eun Sang Chul, who was cheating on his dear departed wife. Wang Ji Hye is Yoon Song Hwa, the woman he was cheating with. Choi Ji Hoo is known for her roles in the dramas "Winter Sonata," "Stairway to Heaven" and Beautiful Days." Lee Sung Jae recently played the lecherous villain Jo Gwan Woong in "Gu Family Book" and Wang Ji Hye played the woman who stole her best friend's boyfriend in "Personal Taste."
By the time "Goddess of Fire," the drama about Korea's first female potter, resumed this week, "The Suspicious Housekeeper" had already managed to sneak ahead in the ratings. "Goddess of Fire," starring Moon Geun Young, Lee Sang Yoon and Kim Bum, came in third at 6.0 percent, while "The Suspicious Housekeeper" competently accumulated 6.9 percent in its first two episodes.
But it can't take the lead away from "Good Doctor," the medical drama starring Joo Won, Moon Chae Won and Joo Sang Wook.
"Good Doctor" remained in the lead with ratings of 20.3 percent. The plot is progressing in a satisfying way with Joo Won's character Dr. Park Si On earning credit for his genius doctoring skills and learning to compensate for the social skills he lacks. He has Doctor Cha Yoon Seo, played by Moon Chae Won, wondering what she really feels for him and he has managed to earn some grudging respect from his cruel dismissive father. It is beginning to seem like Park Si On, who led a rather unfortunate life will get the love and recognition he deserves.
As to the variety shows, the KBS show "Hello" earned 8.4 percent, while the SBS show, "Healing Camp," earned 6.3 percent.
