"Fast & Furious" star Paul Walker's father has reportedly filed a negligence and wrongful death lawsuit against Porsche over the 2013 car crash that claimed his son's life.
Walker died in November, 2013, while he was on a break from filming Fast and Furious 7. The actor was riding in the Carrera GT driven by friend Roger Rodas when the car crashed into a pole and burst into flames in Santa Clarita, California.
In his lawsuit, Walker's father has claimed that the Porsche Carrera GT that his son was riding in lacked safety features that could have saved the lives of Walker and Roger Rodas. These include a stability-control system, door reinforcements and a breakaway fuel line to prevent the car from bursting into flames after a collision. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages, reported Daily Mail.
Walker's father's lawsuit is joined by similar claim by Rodas' widow, Kristine, who has also filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the car maker, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The lawsuit comes a week after Porsche responded to a wrongful death lawsuit from Paul's daughter Meadow Walker.
Walker "knowingly and voluntarily assumed all risk, perils and danger in respect to the use of the subject 2005 Carrera GT, that the perils, risk and dangers were open and obvious and known to him, and that he chose to conduct himself in a manner as to expose himself to such perils, dangers and risks, thus assuming all the risks involved in using the vehicle," said Porsche in a seven-page defence of the earlier lawsuit, reported People Magazine.
"If Porsche had designed the car to include proper safety features, Paul would have survived, he would be filming Fast and Furious 8, and Meadow Walker would have the father she adored," responded Meadow's attorney Jeff Milam.
None of the cases have yet been set for trial.
Porsche is yet to comment on the new lawsuit.
