Demi Lovato posted a Twitter reminder for Thanksgiving. According to a report from Contact Music, the "Cool for the Summer" singer's post meant to reach out to those with eating disorders, which she previously admitted is a continuous recovery process.

A former bulimic herself, the singer-actress seemingly recalled how she struggled with being around lots of food during the holiday season.

"For anyone in recovery who gets anxiety about Thanksgiving, just remember... It's about giving thanks not just the food," Demi Lovato wrote on Twitter.

TV3 also reported about Demi Lovato's Twitter message, as well as how she opened up about her past Thanksgiving celebrations with her family in Texas.

"Thanksgiving is a lot of food, and it's a really triggering holiday for anyone with an eating disorder," she admitted.

"I think the thought of all the food I ate on Thanksgiving Day was in my head. I didn't think I was going to make the whole day without throwing up."

The former Disney star also explained how recovering from an eating disorder is a continuous process.

"I don't think I'm fixed," Demi Lovato confessed in a past interview.

"People think that you're like a car in a body shop. You go in, they fix you, and you're out."

"[But no.] It takes constant fixing," she clarified.

Aside from battling an eating disorder, Demi Lovato also got addicted to alcohol and drugs when she was only 19-years-old. Per Daily Mail, her ordeal took place at the height of her career as a teen star.

"I couldn't go 30 minutes to an hour without cocaine," she narrated in a 2013 interview. "I would bring it on airplanes."

Demi Lovato has been open about how her boyfriend, actor Wilmer Valderrama, helped her recover from her eating disorders and substance abuse issues.

Entertainment Tonight reported that the "That 70s Show" star does not even take any credit for how he helped his girlfriend, who is more than 10 years younger than him.

"He never takes credit for my sobriety, but I guarantee I wouldn't be alive without him today," the 22-year-old recording artist said.

"As I get more serious in my life, I'm more proud. I also wanted to give him a lot of credit that he never takes."
