It turned out that the Golden State Warriors didn't even need the brilliance of Stephen Curry to continue their record to 18-0, as the league MVP sat down the fourth quarter in the 120-101 beating of the Sacramento Kings.

Stephen Curry just scored 19 points and made three threes before sitting out the game.

As the locomotive continues to chug along, the Golden State Warriors have the opportunity to break the Los Angeles Lakers' record of 33 straight wins back in 1971-72 season.

"The Warriors' win streak is technically at 20 because they ended the regular season last year with four wins in a row," noted Mercury News. "But the single-season record -- the Lakers won their 33 in the same season -- is the big deal. That's the Holy Grail."

"The closest any team has come to it was the 2012-13 Miami Heat with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. They made it to 27."

The next 13 games by the Golden State Warriors are not easy, which makes it very hard for them to surpass the 33-0 record.

Next up for the schedule is Utah Jazz with a record of 8 wins against 7 losses, the Golden State Warriors are expected to stretch their record to 19-0. Then it gets harder with the Charlotte Hornets (11-7), the Toronto Raptors (10-7), before taking a break with a losing team, the Brooklyn Nets (4-13) and back to a surging Indiana Pacers (11-5).

If they still emerge in those road games unscathed, the next few games would be relatively easier, which gives the Golden State Warriors the chance to make their record to 27-0 in the game against the Boston Celtics (9-8), Milwaukee Bucks (6-11), Phoenix Suns (8-9), and another game with the Bucks.

But the Golden State Warriors would be hard pressed to win their next game after that as they face last year's finals opponent, Cleveland Cavaliers (13-4). If their record would still be spotless, their next games would be with the Sacramento Kings (6-12), Dallas Mavericks (10-7), Houston Rockets (7-10), Denver Nuggets (6-11) and Charlotte Hornets.

Ironically, the Golden State Warriors would surpass the 33-0 record if they win against the Los Angeles Lakers on Jan. 5 at the Staples Center.

As the schedule shows, any of those teams-except the Lakers, that is-can win against the Golden State Warriors and spoil their chance of breaking the record.
