Deftones frontman Chino Moreno offered plenty of updates about where the rock band is heading, including the possibility of releasing its new album early of 2016.

Speaking to BBC Radio 1's "Rock Show," as shared by Blabber Mouth, Chino Moreno said they already finished with approving the last mix for Deftones' new album.

"So now it's just time to sequence the songs and master them, and we should be done," he said. "Artwork still is something that we're working on, but we're making some progress with that. [The] album title [is] close, but not all the way there yet, and songtitles as well."

"But that's usually the stuff that's sort of the last stuff to come together. But, I mean, as far as the music, it's done, it's sounding good and we're excited about it."

Deftones' "Koi No Yokan" in 2012 drew critical acclaim, although didn't perform as well as its previous albums based on sales. And it seems the sales are dropping from album to album ever since the 1995 debut of "Adrenaline" which went platinum.

Chino Moreno said that Deftones' new album couldn't be compared to their last two albums, "Diamond Eyes" and "Koio No Yokan."

"I mean, those two records were done in a very similar manner where we locked ourselves in a room for a short period of time and wrote and recorded it. And therefore, I feel like we sort of really captured this moment in time, and the records sort of sound cohesive because of that."

For their new album, the member of Deftones recorded in a span of over a year, which explains why it sounds more "fragmented."

"I mean, I feel like you put on one song and it's completely different from the song after it, or previous to it," he explained. "So it's not like we had this one main idea and we went in and we sort of went with that vibe. I mean, the vibe's sort of all over the place."

Although Chino Morales has not said anything about the scheduled release for Deftones' new album, Mic claimed that it's going to drop next year.
