Fans couldn't contain their excitement when "NCIS" season 13 director Dennis Smith shared a selfie Twitter photo of him along with Cote de Pablo hugging Michael Weatherly on Twitter. He wrote, "Ok so how much fun did I have last night?"
One fan wrote, "OMG. I'M DYING!! THE SMILES!! THE FEELS!! MOTE!! Close?"
"This is the greatest thing I've ever seen in two years," another commented.
"You made this fan very happy too! I agree let's get Ziva back to #NCIS," one of his followers added.
Does that mean Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo will rekindle their romance in "NCIS" season 13?
Not likely.
For one, Cote de Pablo, however, has a new movie coming out called "The 33."
The synopsis for "The 33" reads, "When the San José copper and gold mine in Chile collapsed in 2010, 33 miners were trapped more than 200 storeys underground."
Showrunner Gary Glassberg told TV Guide that although "NCIS" season 13 will explore DiNozzo's past relationships and some familiar faces will be coming back, fans might still end up disappointed.
"There'll definitely be some surprise appearances of people from our NCIS past, but Ziva David is not one of them," Glasberg says adamantly.
Cote de Pablo has repeatedly said that she's open to coming back to "NCIS" because the storyline of her exit didn't really provide closure to Ziva David and DiNozzo.
In September, showrunner Gary Glasberg told The Hollywood Reporter that somewhere in "NCIS" season 13, they would address Tony DiNozzo's issues with relationships.
"Down the road, we'll continue to delve into the love life of Tony DiNozzo, and there might be some surprises for people a little further down the road into the season on that one, especially for our diehard fans," he said.
Is that a hint that Ziva David will return sometime in "NCIS" season 13?
"I don't know! We'll have to see what unfolds," the producer said. "I'm not going to say a word - I'm just going to say we'll definitely be getting into DiNozzo's love life."
