Those who own an Xbox One console in the UK can now download the official Sky TV app, which allows access to the content from the Sky TV networks like the on-demand films and TV shows as well as live programming, according to a report on Windows Central.

For Xbox One UK owners already set to have a Sky TV, Xbox UK announced it through its Twitter account on Tuesday. Microsoft is expanding the media streaming app for the game console outside the US Sky TV app access requires a Sky account and a Sky Go Extra service subscription.

Xbox One UK owners can also watch from the console live sport events like Premier League football and Formula, with Sky TV. This app was called Sky Player before and was an exclusive Xbox 360 app, reckoned GameSpot.

In May last year, Sky announced that the apps Sky Go and Now TV will land on Sony's PlayStation 4. Fergal Gara, former boss at Sony Computer Entertainment UK stated Now TV in PS3 has been a great entertainment portfolio, hence, "bringing it to the new PS4 is going to delight all users of the newest, most powerful member of the PlayStation family."

With Sky Go in PS3 and PS4, their credentials as the ultimate entertainment and game package are being enhanced, Gara added.

For the newer game consoles, as the app landed on PS 4 first, there was no specific date given when it should be on Microsoft's new console. Its launch this month comes quite a pleasant surprise.

Sky is popular in the UK and for Xbox One UK owners having a Sky TV app strengthens the gaming console in providing more content with various offerings from Amazon, Netflix and from itself.

The app can be downloaded from the store, apps, find "TV from Sky" from the New Release section or search for "Sky." To access the content, an account login is required. T3PO reminded everyone that the upgraded Sky Go Extra service or Sky Multiscreen requires an additional £5 monthly.
