Riding with Uber app is now possible in Windows 10. The tech platform which makes picking up a public transportation easier and more convenient is made a lot easier again as it hits Windows 10 tablets, phones and PCs. It began to roll out this week, offering unique features and a free ride deal of up to $20 for Windows users who are new to Uber.

One can set his pickup location from his Windows 10 PC with Uber and even use Cortana to do so. "Hey Cortana, get me an uberX to 1 Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA" or give the destination.

For the first time, Uber is made available on a desktop and it is through the Universal Windows Platform. Hence, one can use the Uber app with the Windows 10 desktop while the phone can be used to call or text the driver. That is initiating rides from any device.

When the app is pinned on the Start menu, the Live Tile displays the estimated time it takes for the Uber to arrive. The consumer will also be notified once the driver is arriving. The post on the official Windows blog said the app runs on the latest November Update of the operating system.

The $20 free fare for new Windows users can be availed by entering a code under "PROMOTIONS" tab in the Uber app before the ride. Then input "MSFTWIN10." The Uber app is now downloadable for free from the Windows Store.

According to ZNET, Yuixin Zhu, Uber product team member credited UWP for them to be able to come up with the Uber app for Windows 10. Microsoft hopes other developers will do the same.

The launch of Cortana for Android and iOS announced this week is making the use of the Uber app easier. The app works on Windows 10 desktop like it does on mobile devices, except for texting and calling the driver. It will give an estimated cost for the requested ride, while a map will show the location of the driver of the pickup route. Friends can split fares and rides are charged automatically to the registered credit card.
