The romantic time travel drama "Splash, Splash, Love" may only be two episodes long but there are at least five reasons drama lovers should give it a chance.
1. The drama stars Korea SNL comedienne Kim Seul Gi. Kim is funny in every role she plays. She was a funny ghost in "Oh My Ghostess," starring Jo Jung Suk and Park Bo young. She was funny as Jung Yu Mi's best friend in "Discovery of Love." She was a funny webtoon editor in "Flower Boys Next Door."
"Splash, Splash Love" offers her a chance to play a leading role, so viewers can see even more of her.
2. The drama illustrates how the basic schooling most of us have in high school offers so much more knowledge than even the best educated people had access to a few centuries ago. Kim's character Jang Dan Bi is a lackluster, modern-day high school student, who ditches her SAT test, then falls in a magical puddle and winds up in the Joseon era. There she may be the smartest person around.
3. For those who like dramas with a moral, this one also shows how some people need the right motivation to stick with a problem to the end. School just seems pointlessly overwhelming to Jang Dan Bi but when the math she learned there may help save a people from drought and famine, she struggles with it until she comes up with a solution.
4. Yoon Doo Joon plays a very relatable King Lee Do. He's man used to being bowed to but he has never had a friend. And the time transplant Jang Dan Bi talks to him like an equal. He should chop off her head for it but he doesn't. Although he's a royal and a married man, she is his first girl friend. Hopefully his evil queen will be deposed and Kim Seul Gi's character will help him bring his country safely into the future.
5. It is only two episodes, the length of a movie cut into two neat segments. During the busy holiday season, it may be hard to fit in regular drama viewing, but this drama, is short and sweet.
The mini-drama also stars Jin Ki Joo, Ahn Hyo Sub, Kim Kap Soo and Lim Ji Yin.
