Cote de Pablo's return to "NCIS" season 13 has been teased by the producers of the show, which only served to ramp up the anticipation for fans hoping for a happy ending for Ziva David and DiNozzo.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Gary Glassberg said that they will want to explore DiNozzo's background with women.
"Down the road, we'll continue to delve into the love life of Tony DiNozzo, and there might be some surprises for people a little further down the road into the season on that one, especially for our diehard fans," he said.
Does that mean Cote de Pablo will return to "NCIS" season 13?
"I don't know! We'll have to see what unfolds. I'm not going to say a word - I'm just going to say we'll definitely be getting into DiNozzo's love life," he answered. "Across the board, Margo Harshman will be back playing Delilah, and McGee (Sean Murray) has moved in with her, and that relationship will continue. She's been a wonderful guest for us, and we're excited to have her back."
Nevertheless, even if Cote de Pablo's return to "NCIS" season 13 wouldn't pan out, the actress is busy with other projects such a possibly going back to Broadway after having just finished the film, "33."
"I was about to do Broadway (The Mambo Kings) right before I got N.C.I.S. so it's something still pending that I want to do," she said in an interview. "It never ended up going to Broadway."
The actress continued, "We went to the Golden Gate theater and there were too many things that the musical needed so we took a break then I booked N.C.I.S. so I went from my chance of doing a Broadway show into doing the series. I never thought a TV show could last that long but if it was the right material I would do it again. If there can be a balance between being professionally happy, being creatively stimulated and having a personal life, then yes."
Fans, however, are still hoping for Cote de Pablo's return to "NCIS" season 13, if only to give some closure to Ziva David's relationship with DiNozzo.
