Frank Ocean might just surprise everybody by dropping his new album ala Beyonce.
DigitalSpy reported of a brewing rumor that a "huge artist" is set to drop a new album.
"Naturally, our first thought is Rihanna - but with Sia dropping the bombshell that she's still sourcing songs for Anti, we're a shade skeptical," it said. "The equally elusive Frank Ocean is another hot favourite, but the singer's been toying with our emotions all year with countdowns that lead to nothing and dead ends."
It added, "Having said that, Twitter's recently been alight with rumours that Frank's leading up to a new single 'White Ferrari' - so maybe we'll have a new track as opposed to an entire album tomorrow."
The trend about releasing a whole album without any promotion was started by Beyonce back in 2013 when she dropped a self-titled work exclusively for iTunes.
The rumors about Frank Ocean releasing his new album, "Boys Don't Cry," soon started when producer A-Trak tweeted on Nov. 23, "Mark my words: in a few weeks u'll hear a song called White Ferrari, I can't tell u who it's by but it's the best thing u'll hear this year."
That tweet was retweeted multiple times and created a new buzz around Frank Ocean's new album, which is said to carry the title, "Boys Don't Cry."
In response to A-Track's post, one curious tweet posted a photo of Frank Ocean with the blackboard behind him. "@atrak how much am i reaching by suggesting it looks like -rari on that chalkboard?"
Pedro Winter, the owner of Ed Banger records, told Les in Rocks, as shared by Music Times, that their artist SebastiAn has apparently been collaborating with Frank Ocean on materials for his new album.
"SebastiAn just finished production on a few pieces for Frank Ocean-a truly exciting collaboration-and then he will finally be able to turn to his second album," he reportedly said.
But because of the attention his statement generated on what people believed was Frank Ocean's new album, the music producer reneged on his statement.
As usual, Frank Ocean remains silent even as the hype for his new album intensified to an all-time high in the past few days.
