Drama Review 'Shopping King Louis' Episode 11

Despite my humble credentials as a reviewer, I always try to remain professional when handling work in this capacity. I am but a flawed human being like any other, however, so please allow me another moment of weakness... Bok-nam, you little s**t! Now that this is over with, hello. Please join me for another lovely episode of "Shopping King Louis", home to cuteness, entertainment and questionable fashion choices.

So Bok-nam (Ryoo Ee-hyeon) is alive and deserves to be shaved bald and made to run around Seoul naked yelling "I am sorry, noona", but I will get to that in a while. Episode eleven continues mixing comedy and drama in a really nice way and although slightly weaker than past offerings of full OTP cuteness, it is actually broken up into small, fun pieces rather well. This is what keeps the essentially halted plot from dragging it down.

That being said, I do feel the series spends too much time showing our leads reminiscing about their life together and missing each other in this episode. We also get copious amount of flashbacks and less than healthy behavior. As much as I understand Ji-seong (Seo In-guk) for missing Bok-sil (Nam Ji-hyeon), breaking and entering along with stalking are not exactly advisable. Even so, I understand and can somewhat approve of the reason why they drama lingers on this for so long.

"Shopping King Louis" is not above using some tactics to delay its progress and while they sometimes get repetitive, such as Ji-seong's constant accidents, they do keep less desirable plot devices at bay. I admit that I am curious about how Ji-seong's new amnesia will be handled, however. Is it the same type of fake out the drama has tried fooling us with before? It certainly is convenient, but it needs to be used well in order to make up for being such an overused element in the drama.

Speaking of recurring devices, oh Bok-nam, you silly little brat. I do wish he will soon join the party and stop being an elusive carrot dangled before our protagonists. As annoying as his behavior has been, he is an important part of Bok-sil's life and therefore someone we as viewers need to know a little better. He has not exactly made good first impressions.

With a few episodes to go, we have plenty to still deal with. Seon-goo's (Kim Gyoo-cheol) involvement in Ji-seong's accident is one. We also need the mysterious figure outside of Jae-sook's (Yoon Yoo-seon) bookstore addressed. Also, what is with the hidden treasure and why is Butler Kim (Eom Hyo-seob) looking for it? Could Seon-goo be involved in the death of Ji-seong's parents? Could that be proof? I have questions and I need them answered.

"Shopping King Louis" is directed by Lee Sang-yeob-I, written by Oh Ji-yeong-I and features Seo In-guk, Nam Ji-yeon, Yoon Sang-hyeon and Lim Se-mi.
