Korean variety shows are a kind of television entertainment in South Korea.
The variety shows were first established in the 19th century in the countries in Europe and the United States. In the 20th century, it was then adapted on television. Then in the late 20th and 21st centuries, it became low in popularity in both said countries so the show format was then exported to another continent which is Asia, then that was the time it became famous in South Korea.
The variety shows are now considered as the major part of South Korea's television entertainment. The show is mostly associated with various stunts, performances, skits, quizzes, comedy acts, etc. Famous Korean or international celebrities and K-Pop idols are also featured on Korean variety shows.
As we all know, Korean Variety shows are a huge part of modern Korean television entertainment.
This month's brand reputation for variety shows has been revealed by the Korean Business Research Institute
The rankings of these variety shows were known through the evaluation of consumer participation, interaction, media coverage, community awareness, and viewership indexes of 50 popular variety programs. The data were collected from the episodes which run from the 4th of December 2019 to January 4, 2020.
MBC's Variety show "I Live Alone" once again took the number one spot! This show just recently took home the Variety Program of the Year award at the 2019 MBC Entertainment Awards. In addition, it also earned lots of its stars prizes, including the Daesang or the Grand Award for Park Na Rae. The show is reported to have scored a brand reputation index this month of 8,816,676, a 6.61 percent decrease from last month's score.
Next, the second placer was TV Chosun's "Mister Trot," which is the season two of the famous audition program "Miss Trot." It earned a brand reputation index of 7,540,565, a notably impressive accomplishment considering that the show just aired its premiere last January 2 and has therefore never appeared on the brand reputation rankings before.
The third placer is the show MBN's "Voice Queen," which made a brand reputation index score of 6,872,516, a whopping 112.22 percent which increased from the last month.
