Emily Wickersham hasn't even made her debut on NCIS but looks like she got the approval of everyone as she's already gotten a promotion.
She was originally cast in a multi-episode recurring role but she has been promoted to a series regular, CBS announced on Monday, Nov. 4.
Wickersham is assumed to be the replacement for Cote De Pablo's Ziva David who left in the second episode of the current season. She will play Elanor "Ellie" Bishop, an NSA analyst whose specialization is international threat assessment and global preparation. He character will join Team Gibbs in the Nov. 19 episode. She is brought to assist in the investigation after Gibbs and his team found out that the Secretary of the Navy was tapped.
"Emily Wickersham's Ellie Bishop is proving to perfectly compliment the 'NCIS' team," said Executive Producer Gary Glasberg. "Her energy and enthusiasm is contagious. Great things are planned for Bishop and we couldn't be more thrilled to have her on board."
Pablo disclosed why she chose to leave the series. "As far as my decision to leave, that's a personal thing, and I'd rather leave it at that," she said. "The idea of leaving was not something I toyed around with for a long time. It was an overwhelmingly hard thing-at times terrifying." She added, "I left under my terms, and that was wonderful."
Some fans are saying that no one could replace the character of Pablo. Here are some of the reasons why Ziva's character is better than Bishop.
1. Ziva proves that females can be tough too. Women aren't always damsels in distress as we can see how Ziva can take care of herself.
2. The characters of Tony and Ziva balanced each other out. Most of the time the two have contradicting ideas but they also remain true friends. What wil Bishop's role be in the group dynamics?
3. Ziva was trained as a field operative while Bishop is an analyst. How can she possibly be as good as Ziva in the field?
NCIS airs Tuesdays at 8-9 PM ET on CBS.
