The new upcoming drama series stars Kim Hae and Park Hae Joon as a married couple. The show will have its preview on Friday, March 27.
According to producer Mo Wan-il, the story tackles sensitive issues, such as the journey of married couples who experienced affair, betrayal and valuing family. JTBC's "The World of the Married" holds 16 episodes, in which the episodes 1 - 6 landed rated R for contents are more practical and complicated for public viewing. The announcement happened on Thursday during the media conference. The management further explained that the show does not include sensual or brutal scenes.
Further, many of the topics are close to reality that anyone may have experienced. Producer Mo Wan-il explained, "It's a story about a married couple and the overall setting of the drama couldn't be dealt with lightly. The ratings weren't given based on the violence or sexual elements, but because the actors' portrayal was too realistic that the scenes seemed more tense, grave and sensational."
The producer added, "We decided to not limit ourselves until episode 6 and really go head-on with portraying real emotions."
The drama series is adapted from the popular BBC Network series "Doctor Foster" that released 2 seasons. The show gained international recognition around Australia, in the United Kingdom, and in the US. It tackles real-life issues and its timely concern about marriage, revenge, and family.
"While the original is focused more on the main character, in adapting the story for the Korean drama, we wanted to portray a whirlwind of emotions to rage around the main character and the people around her," Producer Mo shared.
"The focus is not just on the person, but on the relationships in which she is involved. Marriage and married life - that's how the title became 'The World of the Married'," the producer went on.
