Review
The first half of the love triangle has started. They say love is more nerve wrecking before when exploring each other than when in love and with Seung Nyang (played by Ha Ji Won) the two men Wang Yu (played by Ju Jin Mo) and Tan Whan (played by Ji Chang Wook) are fighting or possession as it's quite amusing. In addition, it's the foreshadowing of an intense love trianble because of the way that the relationship is built. People feel love to others for many reasons. However, these two people were born to be suspicious of people and wouldn't it be important for them to have love that is unconditional and infused with human trust? Wang Yu (played by Ju Jin Mo) and Tan Whan (played by Ji Chang Wook) are drawn to Seung Nyang (played by Ha Ji Won) for this reason. Seung Nyang (played by Ha Ji Won) has given information that could put Wang Yu's rival, Wang Go (played by Lee Jae Yong) in the corner and became a person to trust unconditionally and to Tan Whan, who had come to a foreign land of Koreo without knowing anyone, Seung Nyang (played by Ha Ji Won) is the only person he can get attached to. This is scary. When Seung Nyang (played by Ha Ji Won) is revealed to be a woman, she will not only be a person that they trust but a woman that they cannot lose. Therefore, as they are building trust, it will be interesting how fierce Seung Nyang's fight will be.
The part to look forward to is Tan Whan (played by Ji Chang Wook). He is the first in line to succeed from East Asia to East Europe as he would rule the Won dynasty, but his life is quite sad. From the earliest part of the drama, he only focused on trying to survive. He would beg people with authority to spare him and to the people who would be next to him, he would simply whine. In fact, this may just be the instincts of humans because it's better to look dull-witted to people who keep them in check. But he changed. He went in front of Baek Ahn (played by Kim Young Ho) who took a knife to him and revealed that he is the only traditional successor to Genghis Khan. He is a new person because he wants to leave. Putting Seung Nyang's intent aside, Tan Whan seems to need Seung Nyang more than Wang Yu. He will go through several growing pains and become king. But how will he get the heart of Seung Nyang who's swaying towards Wang Yu? Even with a historical fiction plot, this romance is of interest to look forward to in "Empress Ki."
Talking Points
- Ju Jin Mo who was in the movie, "Frozen Flower" as King Gongmin. He's also misunderstood as being homosexual.
- The tension between two men on a horse. At that time, the pick up line was "Get on my horse."
