Renowned actress Gong Hyo-jin's tell-all account, in a relay interview last week, lent insights into the tiring course of her latest project, the gravity-heavy drama "When the Stars Gossip," and the physical and mental wear that its filming took on her.

In a video titled "It's a Bit Late, But There's Something I've Been Wanting to Say," uploaded on April 20 to her YouTube channel "For Now, Gong Hyo-jin," the actress revealed her experiences during the years-long filming, emphasizing the novelty and intensity of the process.

"Every aspect of filming this drama felt new to me," Gong said, describing the unique challenges of shooting in an outer-space setting.
"I couldn't believe how far pre-production could go. Some parts needed almost two years of post-production work."

Gong explained that 15 out of the drama's 16 episodes were set in space, requiring extensive simulation of zero gravity.

"We'd film for 15 hours while suspended on wires, and half of that time was literally spent hanging in midair," she detailed.
"My blood circulation got so bad at one point that I yelled, 'Please get me down!'"

Despite its ambitious premise, "When the Stars Gossip," a 50 billion KRW tvN drama co-starring Lee Min-ho, faced criticism for its storyline and visual effects, alongside an early controversial scene.
The series wrapped up with a finale some viewers found emotionally unsatisfying.
Looking back on the struggles involved in making it, Gong said she has great respect for her colleagues.
"The actors worked hard, but the staff really endured so much," she said. "Looking back now that it's all over, I realize just how hard I worked too."
Though the drama did not resonate as expected with audiences, Gong's candid sharing has provided a deeper appreciation for the efforts involved in pushing creative boundaries in television production.
