Kwon Tae Ho, the stunt director of OCN's hit drama "The Uncanny Counter," previously participated in an interview and shared about his favorite scenes in the series and praised the cast for their amazing skills.
"The Uncanny Counter" is a series based on a webtoon that tells the story of four demon hunters called "Counter" who went down to earth and disguised themselves as workers at a noodle restaurant. It is for them to hunt down and capture evil demons.
After making history of breaking their own rating records, the stars of the drama Jo Byeong Gyu, Kim Sejeong, Yoo Joon Sang, and Yeo Hye Ran are not just set to make history ratings but also skilled to show their amazing action stunts.
Director Kwon Tae Ho started the interview by shouting out to the viewers of the drama, he shared, "As a part and representative of the production staff, I want to thank all the viewers who have been supporting and loving 'The Uncanny Counter.' Please continue watching to see more of the exciting story and tense action scenes that we've been working hard in order to show an original representation from the webtoon."
He explained about the individual action styles that each actor has and the good chemistry of their stunt team, "Before the filming happened, Jo Byeong Gyu, Yoo Joon Sang, Kim Sejeong, Yeom Hye Ran, and other actors met up with the stunt team to talk about the direction we want to take so we can do some training, where all of us were able to interact a lot. We immediately saw what stunts would fit each character and discovered their strengths and weaknesses. We were able to build our trust with each other and that helped out a lot during the shoot."
Kwon Tae Ho continued sharing that since they are heroes, there were many difficult action scenes. Every time there was a cut, he proudly said that the actors always came to check on the stunt team or volunteer to do the stunts themselves. Through that kind of interaction, their bond became stronger. He also added, "I watched their live press conference and was disappointed that only Mrs. Choo (Yeom Hye Ran's character) with healing powers didn't have a separate stunt actor to call on."
When asked about his favorite action scene, director Kwon Tae Ho chose the fight between Chul Joong and Ji Chung Shin that was in episode one, and Do Ha Na and Baek Hyang Hee's elevator scene in episode five.
Director said, "When I already saw the script, I already knew that Chul Joong and Ji Chun Shin's fight scene would be the main action scene, so I wanted to put in a lot of effort."
Meanwhile, about the elevator scene shown in episode 5, Kwon Tae Ho shared, "I am thinking of 'What can I do to show a really strong and powerful action scene?' I had a lot of good ideas, that's why on the first day of shooting, I rehearsed with Kim Sejeong and Ok Ja Yeon and talked about a lot of details. And to my surprise, it came out better than what I expected it to be, and I am so proud."
Before ending his interview, he also recommends to the viewers about the action scenes between Mrs. Choo (Yeom Hye Ran) and the terrifying evil spirit. The director also said that to know what episode that action scene will be, the audience should continue watching the drama!
