In K-dramaland every day is special for there are newly released episodes from Monday to Sunday! From Dec. 21 to Dec. 27, here are the most-watched series according to Nielsen Korea. Starting from Monday to Tuesday drama, the "Secret Royal Inspector" premiered with their first two episodes and kicked off with a viewership ratings of 5.0% to 5.8%.
"Kairos" also had a little progress with their ratings. From 2.7% on their 15th episode, it went up to 3.3% during their 16th episode.
Meanwhile, one of the hottest SBS dramas, "Penthouse" has been receiving consistent high ratings since it started. During their 16th and 17th episodes, they gathered ratings from 23.7% to 24.0%. It has also been confirmed that due to its popularity, "Penthouse" will be having a second season.
tvN thriller drama "Awaken" starring Namgoong Min, Seol Hyun, and Lee Chung Ha got an average ratings of 4.1% for its eighth episode, which is higher than its seventh episode. JTBC's high school romance drama "Live On" starring Minhyun of NU'EST had an average rating of 0.06 for their sixth episode.
Wednesday - Thursday dramas are also gaining a lot of viewership, "Cheat on Me If You Can" recorded an average rating of 3.8% from their seventh episode. While JTBC's drama "Run On" starring Im Siwan and Shin Se Kyung have been receiving good feedback for their natural chemistry on screen which also reflects in their viewership ratings, from 2.8% it had a progress and went to 3.0%.
The most-anticipated drama of this week, who had also been gaining viewership across the globe is none other than tvN's romantic comedy series "True Beauty" starring three of the rising artists of this generation - idol and actor Cha Eun Woo who is playing the role of Lee Su Ho, the makeup guru and charming actress Moon Ga Young who played as Im Ju Gyeong, and Korea's new heart throb Hwang In Yeop. They started strong and continue garnering high viewership ratings.
Friday drama "Hush" had a little decrease from its ratings, episode 5 has an average rating of 3.2% and went down to 2.6%. On the other hand, weekend dramas can't stop breaking their own rating records, starting from KBS's series "Homemade Love Story," with its 29th episode garnering an average of 30.8% viewership rating, it went went up to 33.2%. It's also the drama with the highest ratings for the week!
"The Uncanny Counter" episodes nine and ten has been cancelled due to some circumstances, but even before they went on hiatus its drama ratings already made a history in OCN, they are also the one breaking their own viewership ratings in every episode. The drama will be returning on screen in January 2 and 3, viewers are already excited to see other changes from their characters and stories.
Last but definitely not the least, the not so ordinary queen has also been getting a lot of impression from its audiences, tvN's drama "Mr.Queen" is consecutively breaking its own rating records, from episode five it garnered 11.3% and rise to 11.8% on their sixth episode.
The emerging success of Korean dramas locally and globally has a great impact in appreciating more of Korea's culture, it gives a new taste to the viewers. Amazing plots and talented artists are also the reasons for achieving such record breaking ratings.
