After being renewed for its second season, to the delight of the fans, there is now radio silence as to what is happening with "Arthdal Chronicles." Given the lack of updates, there is now a rumor that "Arthdal Chronicles" Season 2 might be canceled.

'Arthdal Chronicles' Season 2 Cancelled or Just Delayed?

The South Korean television series Arthdal Chronicles was renewed for a Season 2 more than a year ago already, on February 12, 2020. However, because the COVID-19 pandemic happened, the show's filming could not naturally start. Still, unlike other Korean dramas and shows, there seems to be total silence on this second season.

If that was not worrying enough, fans had to find out that "Arthdal Chronicles Season 2" was excluded from Netflix's 2021 lineup, which means it is coming at 2022, at best, or never, at worst.

After its 2019 debut, "Arthdal Chronicles" Season 1 was embraced quite well by the fans. However, ever since its end, fans have been longing for the second season to drop for nearly two years now. To suddenly surmise that it might never come is not a good feeling.

And yet, the show's creators remained silent to date about its filming. They haven't given an update on the production for a long time, even this year, when announcements of other shows returning or new ones being filmed are being constantly made.

According to analysts however, it is still too early to tell if the second season will be cancelled. After all, apart from the COVID-19 being the reason for its delay, there are no more other compelling reasons why it will not push through after being provided with a green signal.

The makers even have already confirmed that Arthdal Chronicles Season 2 would return with all of its main actors, which means seeing Song-Joong Ki and Jang Dong-gun once more. These two actors are not the ones whose projects can just be canceled without a reason, so that is a good sign that this second season is just being delayed.

While no news of Netflix's Arthdal Chronicles Season 2 is being made, fans can just make up theories on where it will start. More likely, it will start from where Season 1 ended and just give fans one intense scene after another.

'Arthdal Chronicles' Season 2 Confirmed in 2020

For those who need to refresh their memory, "Arthdal Chronicles" portrays the story of a mythical land named Arth that dates back to the Bronze Age. The inhabitants of the ancient city of Arthdal are embroiled in deep power struggles, and yet this does not stop some of them from encountering love along the way. The character Eun-seom in particular had to go through several hardships to bring his tribe back to life and find himself in the process.

Ever since Season 1 was shown, critics were all praises for it. According to them, "Arthdal Chronicles" has a unique and interesting storyline that is not seen anywhere. Coupled with the breathtaking setting and intriguing visuals, the show is a champion..

Based on the Consumer Research Report conducted by the Korean Creative Content Agency, Arthdal Chronicles was the sixth most-watched K-Drama among the U.S viewers when it aired. That is saying something. While Korean shows have always been of high quality, those that have captured the attention of Western viewers and the rest of the world, often mean they are truly good.

It can also be recalled how the show also won the highest rating among Korean dramas in cable television in South Korea, which means it truly deserves a second season.

That said, it cannot be denied that the lack of updates is simply worrying. With no updates, it will be hard to tell when Arthdal Chronicles Season 2 will be released. Fans just have to hope and pray that it is at least this year or at most, in 2022.
