The new batch of "Youth of May" episodes are coming very soon. And while the first half showed the sweet romance between HwangHee Tae and Kim Myung Hee budding, everything might be cut short - permanently - in the second half.

If you are not afraid of some of the "Youth of May" spoilers, then read on.

"Youth of May" Spoilers: What Will Happen to Kim Myung Hee and Hwang Hee Tae?

It is clear right from the first episode of "Youth of May" that the attraction between the two main characters will take time to become a full-fledged relationship because there are simply too many things going against them.

At one point, Hwang Hee Tae even needed to become engaged to a woman he did not like!

They have proven not to let these challenges ruin their budding romance though. Several scenes got viewers rooting for them, even though at first, Kim Myung Hee was obviously trying to control her emotions for Hwang Hee Tae. When they finally admitted their feelings for each other, that got some fans really elated. They did so in a very cute manner though - a trademark of young romance.

"Youth of May" Spoilers: Is the Uprising Going to Ruin Everything?

An impending national crisis just might prove too great of a force though, and ruin whatever they might have right now.

In particular, the Gwangju Uprising is looming. In this uprising, Gwangju citizens are protesting against the military dictator and because of this, people are being brutally killed by their own government. Troops are not going to stop at anything to curtail opposition, even hurting young people.

Naturally, the main characters will be affected. Hwang Hee Tae is played by Lee Do Hyun and is a medical student from an affluent family.

On the other hand, Kim Myung Hee is played actress Go Min Si. She is a nurse three years to her profession and comes from a much more turbulent family. She is a fighter and does not like to see injustice being committed against people.

With them both being so impassioned about societal issues, it's impossible that they would remain indifferent to what is happening. It is also impossible that their relationship will be left unscathed.

The producers of "Youth of May" ascertained this. They revealed that, "if the first half of the drama depicted the way the characters are intertwined, the second half will focus on how the youths connected by fate will change when they are faced with the struggles of the times. Please pay close attention to the way their relationships and emotions change."

It's fascinating to note that Lee Do Hyun and Go Min Si became household names when they both starred in "Sweet Home." An apocalyptic Netflix series released right in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. They played siblings (adopted) in the series, and so it's quite interesting to see them transition into playing lovers on "Youth of May."

"Youth of May" airs every Monday and Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. KST.
