Hong Jin Gi Confirmed to Join the Cast of SBS' 'Hong Cheon Gi'

Actor Hong Jin Gi has been reported to join the cast of SBS' new period drama "Hong Cheon Gi," or "Red Sky."

SBS's upcoming Monday and Tuesday Drama "Hong Cheon Gi" will be directed by Jang Tae-Yoo and written by Ha Eun based on a novel by Jung Eun-Gwol. The fantasy romance will be led by Kim Yoo Jung as the titular Hong Cheon Gi, the first female artist at the Dohwaseo, or the Korean Royal Academy of Painting. Exceptionally beautiful and optimistic, her art is her life - at least until she met Ha Ram, played by Ahn Hyo-Seop. The young man is an officer at the ancient office of science and divination.

In the series, Hong Jin Gi will be adding to the fun and brightness of Hong Cheon Gi as her best friend Cha Young Wook. Additionally, sources say that his role will provide a breather in the tense and dangerous world and that he knows everything about Cheon Ki, contributing to her craft by providing her with information.

With the new project, fans are expecting to see more of Hong Jin Gi's talents brought to the forefront, securing such a vital role in the latest SBS fantasy romance drama. The 25-year-old actor under Glorious Entertainment previously garnered acclaim for his performance as Kim Sun Woo in the Netflix drama "Move to Heaven," which was released last May. He is also busy working on the horror film "GUIMOON" set for an August 2021 release.

With big projects one after another, Hong Jin Gi is steadily improving as an actor in addition to his natural talents and charms in front of the camera. Fans looking forward to seeing him again will find him as Cha Young Wook on the upcoming SBS fantasy drama "Hong Cheon Gi," set to air on August 2021, Mondays and Tuesdays at 10 PM KST, replacing the timeslot previously occupied by Racket Boys.
