Aside from the storyline and characters, the team behind the production of the K-drama, who are responsible for the visual effects, are also lauded and get the recognition they deserve - because, obviously, they give a special touch to make the concepts more enticing. Such is the case of one of the popular fantasy dramas right now, TVING's "The Witch's Diner."

During the first day of the Korean drama's broadcast, the series immediately captivated the viewers with its fantastical concept, but it's thanks to the team behind the scenes!

With the help of technology, more viewers show their interest in dramas, thanks to CG (Computer Graphics). Through this, they can see another world that only visual effects can show, especially now that people are at the comfort of their homes, feet itching for a new vicinity.

'The Witch's Diner' Concept Was Inspires from a Grotesque, Cruel Fairy Tale

In a recent behind-the-scenes clip of "The Witch's Diner," the visual effects team revealed the CG they used to make the drama seamless and realistic.

"The Witch's Diner" talks about people who live extremely realistic lives, who find an unrealistic restaurant where a modern witch can make their wishes come true.

Lee Yong Seop explained Song Ji Hyo's character as Jo Hee Ra based on the impressions he received while watching the series. According to him, "The witch Jo Hee Ra is good and sincere, and grants peoples' wishes. She looks gorgeous and omnipotent, but she is also cruel and deadly."

He further discussed the idea that he does to show the duality of Jo Hee Ra's character, "I tried to express the contrast as if Jo Hee Ra's magic is hiding the wrinkled and scary real witch in her beautiful appearance."

Lee Yong Seop continued, "As a result of the computer graphics, the violet color adopted successfully brings out the elegant yet creepy feeling well."

But according to him, the part that gave the most satisfying feeling was when he designed Hee Ra's fantasy effects by unifying the witch's aura, which produces a purple color effect when changing clothes.

The CG supervisor also revealed the story behind the concept of "Mandrake," the talking tree inside The Witch's Restaurant. Lee Yong Seop confessed that it strongly caught the viewers' eyes.

He illustrated, "In doing the talking tree, the shape of the mouth and the performances and lines thrown by the actors must match. A lot of animation work was put into it to achieve the satisfaction that we want."

He revealed that it was his first time doing such animation in a Korean drama.
