CBS has no plans on getting “How I Met Your Mother” off the air as of yet. The top comedy series’ official network has already ordered a pilot for its spinoff for “How I Met Your Dad.”
Citing a report by Deadline.com which first noted the development for the comedy series, the New York Times noted that the show’s creators have already confirmed the network’s plans.
The NYT said that creators, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas have already told the good news to its followers on Twitter. Bays, according to NYT said that the show would see a new setting and characters.
“How I Met Your Dad” will be written by Emily Spivey. It is said that the show’s storyline has a female spin on the original concept. Spivey is known for her contribution in the creation of NBC comedy, “Up All Night.”
NYT emphasized CBS’s move for a spinoff of “How I Met Your Mother,” should not come as a surprise. The comedy series has been included as one among the top 10 highest-rated shows on television.
Its final season even averaged 8.2 million viewers and had been popular among 18-49 demographics. It comes third in the highest-rated comedy in demographics, trailing closely to “Big Bang Theory” (CBS) and “Modern Family” (ABC).
