Based on the Webtoon Co-Created 'Hellbound' Director
Yoo Ah In's new drama is based on the webtoon titled "Hell," written by PD Yeon Sang Ho himself, while the live-action adaptation is produced under Lezhin Studio.
The upcoming Netflix series is set to showcase the story between good and evil through a chaotic supernatural phenomenon.
In the drama, the award-winning actor plays the cult leader, Jung Jin Soo, and his obsession with the emerging religion, Saejinrihwe.
He spoke about the rare occurrence of death angels from hell condemning people, causing a tumultuous and confusing period in the human race.
On the other hand, the feisty lawyer Min Hye Jin, portrayed by Kim Hyun Joo, doubts Jung Jin Soo's beliefs and is determined to find the reason behind the strange phenomenon.
During the press conference, PD Yeon Sang Ho revealed why he opted to use angels and grim reapers, saying that it was the way he imagined it to be.
"They say it appeared suddenly in ancient times, but it could appear once every 100 or 200 years. I figured that our imaginations of the angel and devil were built off the imaginations of people in these ancient times. I was curious about the original archetype they saw," he said.
