The much anticipated SBS coming-of-age romance drama "Our Beloved Summer" finally released its first episode, highlighting the hilarious yet intriguing story of top student Kook Yeon Soo (Kim Da Mi) and easy-go-lucky Choi Woong (Choi Woo Sik).
'Our Beloved Summer' Episode 1: Kook Yeon Soo and Choi Woong Get Stuck With Each Other
"Our Beloved Summer" episode 1 highlights the love-and-hate relationship of highly intelligent Kook Yeon Soo and free-spirited Choi Woong.
Their enigmatic story begins in the year 2011 where Kook Yeon Soo's homeroom teacher asks her for a huge favor. She will pair up with the worst student in the school for a social experiment documentary.
Like oil and water, Kook Yeon Soo and Choi Woong are each other's total opposites. While Kook Yeon Soo is quiet and reserved, Choi Woong is curious and fussy.
In hopes to further improve their grades, Kook Yeon Soo agrees in partnering up with the stubborn schoolmate. For 10 years, the two starred in a documentary that focused on their lives as their exact opposites.
The two students didn't hide their vendetta against each other, rather they were vocal about it. During an interview, the two swore that they would never see each other ever again.
Students Kook Yeon Soo and Choi Woong vs. Career-Driven Kook Yeon Soo and Choi Woong
The two students were asked what they would be like in 10 years. Kook Yeon Soo says she'll do something she's good at, opposite Choi Woong, who just wants to live a simple and quiet life.
Contrary to what they have in mind, Kook Yeon Soo, currently 29-years-old, is working at a company under an equally competitive and harsh CEO.
It wasn't like what she had pictured before. She didn't have time for anything as her day-to-day life only involves work, going home to sleep and drinking alcohol.

On the other hand, Choi Woong is living peacefully, just like what he had imagined. However, it wasn't simple. Unbeknownst to many, he is the famous yet recluse artist Ko-o, who never revealed his identity.
Interestingly, Kook Yeon Soo longs to work with Ko-o for a specific project that will prove her worth and skills.
Kook Yeon Soo and Choi Woong's Documentary Gains Popularity
Kim Ji Woong (Kim Sung Cheol), Choi Woong's one and only friend, a documentary director, is assigned to film a follow-up documentary as to what happened to the top student Kook Yeon Soo and worst student Choi Woong.
Due to popular demand, the SBC broadcast network aims to put the two on one screen again. However, Kim Ji Woong expresses his opposition to the idea after seeing his friends become a wreck after the two ex-lovers' breakup.
Over the course of 10 years, the two opposite students gradually developed intense feelings for one another and fell in love. But like many other relationships, theirs also failed badly after five long years.
Ironically, Kook Yeon Soo and Choi Woong never dated anyone after being with each other.
Kook Yeon Soo often uses work as an excuse to ditch her dates, and Choi Woong mostly locks himself up in his grande room to draw.

Despite her annoyance and dismay, Kook Yeon Soo's feet dragged her to Choi Woong's front door, where a still groggy Choi Woong appeared.
Thinking he was still dreaming, Choi Woong closes the door and opens it again, only to see the real ex-girlfriend outside his house.
At the end of the episode, a matchy-matchy couple dressed in yellow fought nonstop during their date at a beautiful amusement park.
