K-Contents Goes to Bollywood

There's no denying that K-content's popularity rapidly increases globally and raises viewers' expectations.

Interestingly, "Something in the Rain" is not the first K-drama to have an Indian remake.

Bollywood, with a population of 1.4 billion viewers, has officially remade several Korean contents, including the 2005 film "A Bittersweet Life," which stars award-winning actor Lee Byung Hun, Shin Min Ah, Kim Yeong Cheol and more.

Meanwhile, the unofficial remake was titled, "Awarapan" which aired in 2007, starring Shriya Saran, Emraan Hashmi, Ashutosh Rana and Mrinalini Sharma.

According to SCMP, the Indian remake had decent positive reviews, especially Emraan Hashmi's impressive performance.

However, Hindustan Times noted that the plot of "this gangster flick is as slow as watching paint peeling."

Another K-content with an Indian adaptation is the crime thriller movie "Seven Days" headlined by Kim Yoon Jin, Kim Mi Sook, and "My Name" actor Park Hee Soo.

After eight years since it premiered, the Indian market remade it to "Jazbaa" and was released in 2015.

Directed by renowned Bollywood director Sanjay Gupta, "Jazba" stars Aishwarya Rai and Irrfan Khan as the main characters. This is also Aishwarya Rai's comeback to the big screen after her five-year hiatus.
