Lee Joon Gi, Shin Se Kyung Present at 'Arthdal Chronicles' Season 2 Script Reading
The highly-anticipated "Arthdal Chronicles" Season 2 held its first script reading with new and old cast members. The fantasy K-drama initially starred Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won.
On August 9, based on Joy News, Lee Joon Gi and Shin Se Kyung were seen attending the first table reading of the forthcoming sequel last August 6. Apart from the new leads, old cast members Jang Dong Gun and Kim Ok Bin also made their appearances and confirmed their participation in the series' book two.
'Arthdal Chronicles' Season 2 Confirmed Since 2020
In addition to the news, "Arthdal Chronicles" was originally planned to have its season 2 immediately after season 1 concluded.
The production for season 2 was already confirmed in 2020 based on the desires of the production team and viewers of the drama. However, the schedule and plans for the project were postponed due to COVID-19.

One of the major challenges the production had during the process of finalizing the series was confirming the cast. Due to their overlapping and busy schedules, original leads Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won decided not to appear in "Arthdal Chronicles" Season 2.
Then, "Flower of Evil" actor Lee Joon Gi and "Run On" actress Shin Se Kyung were then confirmed to take over.
Meanwhile, Jang Dong Gun and Kim Ok Bin will reprise their roles.
'Arthdal Chronicles' Season 2 To Start Filming This August
The production team also announced that after the casting and script reading, the cast and crew of "Arthdal Chronicles" Season 2 are expected to begin filming this August.
The star-studded lineup will meet the viewers in the first quarter of 2023. Script will be penned by writers Kim Young Hyun and Park Sang Yeon. They are expected to collaborate with director Kim Kwang Sik, who is in charge of helming the project.
Further, there is also speculation that almost 10 billion KRW is the alloted budget for the "Arthdal Chronicles" Season 2, which was the same production cost in Season 1.
