With its wide variety of genres, K-dramas nonetheless deliver stories that always catch the viewers' emotions. No matter how much we want the characters to have their happy-ever-after, we just can't.
From the classic "Scarlet Heart Ryeo" to the recent Netflix series "Twenty Five, Twenty One," here are seven K-dramas that showcased the 'Right Person, Wrong Time' trope.
'Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo'
Go Ha Jin (IU) traveled back in time to the Goryeo Dynasty. When she wakes up, her soul is already in the body of Lady Hae Soo and finds herself entangled among the ruling princes of the Wang Family.
However, during her stay, she ends up becoming romantically attached to some of the princes, and later on discovers herself involved in politics and the princes' fight for the throne.
'Come and Hug Me'
Starring Jang Ki Yong and Jin Ki Joo, this drama tells the story of a man and a woman who were each other's first love during childhood and were forced to change their names as adults.
Chae Do Jin, a rookie detective who wishes to atone for his father's sins, meets his opposite, Han Jae Yi, an aspiring actress who tries to have a good perspective on life, despite the trauma she had in the past.

'Youth of May'
"Youth of May" is set in 1980 during the Gwangju Uprising and follows the amazing love story of medical student Hwang Hee Tae (played by Lee Do Hyun) and nurse Kim Myung Hee (Go Min Si). Amidst the heated tension and cries for democracy during this era, Hee Tae and Myung Hee find themselves in a twist of fate.
'Goblin'
This epic fantasy romance K-drama depicts the story of a modern-day goblin, played by Gong Yoo, who searches to end his cursed immortal life and needs Ji Eun Tak (Kim Go Eun), his human bride, to do so. Apart from looking for his bride, he gets entangled with a grim reaper (Lee Dong Wook) who is unable to recall his past.
'Snowdrop'
Set in the backdrop of Seoul in 1987, this drama narrates the love story of Su Ho (Jung Hae In) and Young Ro (BLACKPINK Jisoo).
Su Ho suddenly appears at a women's college dorm in a bloody state. Young Ro hides him and takes care of his wounds while facing a big danger under close surveillance.
'Love Alarm'
Based on the webtoon of the same name, this 2019 campus romance series features the story of a technology that permits users to discover love through an application that notifies users when someone within 20 meters has romantic feelings for them.
'Twenty Five, Twenty One'
This heartfelt series tells the love story of Baek Yi Jin (Nam Joo Hyuk) and Na Hee Do (Kim Tae Ri), who first met when they were 22 and 18. Four years later, things changed between them.
It features the pure and fierce growth of young people and the excitement and difficulties between friendship and love.
